First Smartest Thing He's Said

It took 6+ years, but he finally said something smart.

President Bush said Thursday concern should be shown those who've lost their homes but it's not the federal government's job to bail them out.

"Obviously anybody who loses their home is somebody with whom we must show an enormous empathy," Bush said. Asked whether he would champion a government bailout, Bush responded: "If you mean direct grants to homeowners, the answer would be `No, I don't support that.'"

There is video too! Boy, up until now, I thought he was 100% dumb.

Wait, I spoke too soon:

In a wide-ranging news conference at the White House, the president also said that he's interested in exploring the possibility of providing tax relief to U.S. corporations.

I ALMOST had some respect for Dubya... ALMOST.

I respect whoever put the words in his mouth, because I'm sure they weren't his. I'm also sure he did it for all the wrong reasons, but that's OK.

Just one LITTLE thing.... if the homebuyers don't get bailed out, the lenders better not get bailed out, either.

I'm losing respect for our Dem presidential front runners because of their stance on this issue, which seems to me like blatant pandering. Have Obama and Clinton considered who will pay for such a bailout?

It won't be the super-rich, for a fact. It will be those of us who were more careful and honest and we'll pay two ways. First, in taxes, and secondly, in the form of inflated house prices kept artificially aloft by a bailout for imprudent and foolish homedebtors.

Oh, "we" will. And by we I mean us the taxable working middle class. Our existance is to support the degenerates on BOTH extremes of the economic scale.

I believe that we are seeing a bailout right now with the fed injecting billions in the market.

But who is getting bailed out?
